The keyless access remote is water resistant but not waterproof.  That means that if the remote is dunked in water long enough it can result in flooding and become inoperative. All keyless remotes include a water detection sticker on the inside of the back panel. The sticker is normally white, but if the remote floods, the sticker turns red.

If you encounter a keyless remote that won’t work, open it up and check the water detection sticker. If it’s red, the remote is water damaged and must be replaced.
