Chrysler notes that on certain 2015-2017 Ram ProMaster City vans, the engine cooling fan may experience excessive friction and loads between the motor bushing and shaft due to inadequate lubrication in the bushing, out of specification cylindricity and substandard radial strength, leading to bushing wear.

This can result in fan motor noise and eventual failure of the fan motor. This can lead to engine overheating and engine damage.

Inspect the engine cooling fan motor cover to identify which type of fan is installed. If version 1 or 2 is present, replace the engine cooling fan module. If version 3 or 4 is present, no further action is required.
