This bulletin applies to 2013-2018 Ford Escape vehicles equipped with a 1.5L/1.6L2.0L EcoBoost engine, 2013-2018 Fusion equipped with a 2.0L/2.7L EcoBoost, 2013-2018 MKZ equipped with a 2.0L EcoBoost, 2017-2018 MKZ equipped with a 3.0L EcoBoost, 2015-2018 MKC equipped with a 2.0L/2.3L EcoBoost, 2015-2018 Edge equipped with a 2.0L/2.7L EcoBoost, 2016-2018 MKX with 2.0L/2.7L EcoBoost, 2016-2018 Explorer with 2.3L EcoBoost, 2017-2018 Continental with 2.7L/3.0L EcoBoost and 2016-2018 Focus RS with a 2.3L EcoBoost engine.

These vehicles may exhibit a dark black fluid leak from the right side transfer case intermediate shaft seal.

Inspect the intermediate shaft seal for leakage. If leaking, replace the seal. It is not necessary to remove the PTU (power transfer unit) in order to replace the seal.
