Kia's Fill Level Limit Valve May Need Replaced

This bulletin provides information related to the fill level limit valve (FLLV) replacement on some Kia Sorento vehicles produced from Dec. 17, 2012 to Dec.11, 2014 which may exhibit a MIL on with system-related DTC P0455 (large EVAP leak). To correct this concern, follow the procedures in this bulletin. It is not necessary to replace the fuel tank.

This bulletin provides information related to the fill level limit valve (FLLV) replacement on some Kia Sorento vehicles produced from Dec. 17, 2012 to Dec.11, 2014 which may exhibit a MIL on with system-related DTC P0455 (large EVAP leak). To correct this concern, follow the procedures in this bulletin. It is not necessary to replace the fuel tank.

Carefully reach through the tank opening (A) to access the FLLV (B).

Note: optimum fuel level to perform this repair is about one half tank or less.

Align the SST (C) with the FLLV retainer (D) and attach it to the valve until a snap is heard/felt.

 A replacement FLLV is available as P/N 31195 4Z000FFF.

When attaching the SST, be sure to properly align the tool under the locking clip and on both sides as shown.

  1.  Remove the fuel pump assembly.
  2. Carefully reach through the opening of the fuel tank to locate the FLLV. Be careful of the sharp edge of the opening.
  3. Align the SST 07300 10200 with the FLLV retainer and attach it to the valve until a snap is heard or felt. Slightly shift the tool side to side to ensure that it is secured.
  4. Once the SST is secured, pull down on the FLLV and SST to remove.
  5. Insert the new FLLV with the guide pin facing towards the front of the vehicle.
  6. Reinstall all removed components in reverse order.
