Honda notes that when you encounter odd electrical problems, try a battery reset. A battery cable reset forces all capacitors to discharge faster and clears and resets most control unit volatile memory. Before you start, make sure the battery is fully charged. Obtain the anti-theft code and write down the customer’s audio presets before disconnecting the battery.
Turn the ignition switch to LOCK and remove the key. This lessens the chance of voltage spikes.
Disconnect the battery negative cable first, then disconnect the positive cable.
Short the battery cables together with a jumper wire.
Turn the ignition switch to ON and wait 10 minutes.
Turn the ignition switch to LOCK and remove the key.
Remove the jumper wire and reconnect the positive battery cable first, then reconnect the negative cable.
Check ISIS and perform the required reset/learn procedure for the specific vehicle.
Enter the anti-theft code and restore the customer’s settings.
