This bulletin applies to 2017-2023 Audi A3, A3 Cabriolet and S3 vehicles equipped with an 0GC transmission. An oil leak may be noticed under the front of the vehicle. The leak may be traced to the area near the transmission oil cooler at the seam of the transmission case.

Clean the area thoroughly and dry it with rags and/or compressed air. Using oil leak detection spray G 001 900 A1 or equivalent powder-based oil leak detector on the affected area. Audi advises not to use leak detection dyes. Perform a short road test to warm up the gearbox (engine oil temperature at least 80 degrees C/176 degrees F).

If the leak is clearly traced to the area below the gear oil cooler at the separating joint, document the findings with photos. Keep the documentation photos with the warranty records. On A3 vehicles, remove the 120-volt battery and battery tray.

Remove the bolt from the housing and check to see if there is a film of oil in the hole and on the bolt threads. If there is no film of oil in the hole and/or on the bolt threads, the gearbox must be replaced, according to Audi. If there is a film of oil in the hole or on the bolt threads, replace the bolt with a new bolt and torque to 20 Nm plus 90 degrees.
