This bulletin applies to 2006 and newer Jaguar XK vehicles. An earth stud (ground stud) may be broken or cross-threaded. This may be caused by damage in production or during a repair.
A replacement stud P/N C2D36917 is available. A five-piece stud kit P/N MRPK4072 is also available that includes a stepped drill bit and stud applicator gun. Note: the plastic earth protection cradle is not compatible with the new stud.
When fitting the earth repair stud, remove the harness cradle from the harness before reattaching the eyelet to the stud. Using the stepped cutter supplied in the kit, drill until you achieve a 15mm diameter hole. Load the new earth stud into the stud applicator gun. The earth stud is self-sealing and watertight. There is no need to dress the hole with any primer before fitting. Install the new earth stud using the gun. Install the eyelet and torque the stud nut to 9 Nm.
