Some owners of 2017 Chevy Bolt EV vehicles may comment about the instrument panel not indicating a full charge level after a complete vehicle charge event. The top indicator bar will not be illuminated.

This condition is caused when “Hill Top Reserve” is turned on. Hill Top Reserve enables the regenerative braking efficiency to be maximized when driving from higher elevations immediately after charging. When Hill Top Reserve is turned on, this feature will stop the charge before the battery is full, allowing space for energy from the regenerative braking. The Hill Top reserve feature is activated/deactivated by the “Green Energy” button.
