This bulletin applies to 2013-2020 RAM 3500 and 2014-2020 RAM 2500 trucks, equipped with a fifth Wheel/Gooseneck Towing Prep package. The installer may have an issue trying to install a direct mount Mopar accessory fifth wheel trailer hitch.
The legs on the hitch may be too narrow to fit into the pucks in the truck bed. You can use a 5th wheel shim kit P/N 68510849AA to correct the issue. The kit will come with two shims. Use the inspection procedure shown here to determine if one or two shims will be needed.
Measure the distance between the center of each receiver puck. The measurement can be taken from the front or rear pucks.SHIMS NEEDED MEASURED PUCK WIDTH
No shims................................ 987mm (38-13/16”) to 991mm (39”)
One shim................................ 992mm (39-1/16”) to 996mm (39-1/4”)
Two shims............................... 997mm (39-1/4”) to 1001mm (39-7/16”)
All bolts should be torqued to 100 ft-lb (136 Nm).
