Correcting Chevy Colorado Rear Axle Assembly

Oct. 27, 2023
Certain 2017 Chevy Colorado trucks equipped with a 3.42 gear ratio rear axle may have been built with an incorrect rear axle assembly.

Certain 2017 Chevy Colorado trucks equipped with a 3.42 gear ratio rear axle may have been built with an incorrect rear axle assembly. This may cause an unintended deceleration or lock up at low speeds when shifting into 4WD and an improper odometer reading.

Chances are this concern would probably have been identified and corrected early on, but you never know. Inspect the part number on the right tube of the rear axle assembly.

If the part number is 84124298, no further action is required. If the part number is 84124301, replace the rear axle assembly.
