This bulletin applies to 2018 BMW vehicles. After programming the head unit (HU-H2), activating the FSC Enabling Codes repeatedly fails.

The head unit has been manipulated to activate unauthorized features, for example, Apple Car Play.

To correct the issue, new FSC Enabling Codes must be generated by Technical support. With ISTA version 4.41.2x, a check for head unit manipulation occurs during the calculation of the Measures Plan. A pop-up will appear with the unauthorized FSC Enabling Codes listed (see example). If the Measures Plan is carried out at this point, all FSC Enabling Codes for the head unit will be deactivated. When FSC Enabling Codes are lost for a vehicle due to manipulation, new codes will need to be generated by BMW

Technical Service. Please create a TSARA case for assistance titled “HU-H2 – New FSC Enabling Codes Required.” After Technical Service reactivates the FSC Enabling Codes, they can be imported to the vehicle through ISTA. Only the authorized codes for that vehicle will be reactivated. Any codes activated through manipulation will not be reactivated, so the head unit will lose certain unauthorized functionalities.
