    Sept. 3, 2024

This bulletin applies to 2011-2016 Jeep Compass/Patriot vehicles equipped with a 2.0L or 2.4L 4-cylinder DOHC 16V Dual VVT engine.

If the engine has been replaced (numbers do not match), do not perform a PCM flash or replace the PCM, unless it is a certified Mopar engine built specifically for this vehicle application. PCM update/replacement can not be completed on a vehicle with an incorrect replacement engine until the vehicle is returned to the original equipment configuration. Confirm that the last eight digits of the VIN match the engine identification number before proceeding with PCM software updates or PCM replacement. The engine identification number (last eight digits of the VIN) is stamped on the bottom rear or the engine near the transmission.

Updating the PCM software or replacing the PCM on a vehicle with an incorrect replacement engine will result in a no-start condition that cannot be undone.
