This bulletin applies to 2019-2020 Chevy Malibu vehicles. Some technicians may experience failure of the electronic brake control module (EBCM) reprogramming.

The cause of the condition may be that a special procedure is required to update the EBCM.

1. Replace the EBCM ECU with a service ECU. It s not necessary to remove the EPS fuse.

2. Reprogram the EBCM. Refer to K17 Electronic Brake Control Module: Programming and Setup in the service manual.

If the Same Calibration/Software Warning is noted on the SPS screen, select OK and follow screen instructions.

3. Record the SPS Warranty Claim Code on the job card for warranty transaction submission.

4. Flash the EBCM.

5. Cycle the ignition once.

6. Clear any related DTCs.

7. Cycle the ignition a second time.
