Owners of 2018-2020 Dodge Charger and Challenger vehicles equipped with the Active Exhaust System may describe an exhaust rattle on acceleration and deceleration in the 1500-2400 rpm range when the sport mode is off.

If your test drive confirms this (test with sport mode off at the noted rpm range), raise the vehicle and look for a gap or for any loose nuts on the actuator. Remove the exhaust valve actuator. Clean the threads of the nuts and studs to remove any dirt, mud, etc. Once clean, start the nuts by hand onto the studs to confirm.

Install the exhaust valve actuator, holding it down and making sure there are no gaps between the actuator and housing. Torque the nuts to 35 in-lbs. Test drive to confirm the repair.
