Owners of 2017-2020 Mazda6, 2019-2020 CX-5 or 2016-2020 CX-9 vehicles (all equipped with a 2.5T engine) may experience a squeaking noise from the exhaust manifold when the idle speed drops from fast idle to normal idle speed during a cold start.

This is caused by a variable valve being stuck in the closed position. When returning from fast idle to normal, the stuck valve suddenly opens due to thermal change around it which causes the noise. To eliminate the concern, the internal design of the exhaust manifold has been modified.

If the concern has been verified, replace the exhaust manifold with the improved version.
