Preventing contamination on Subaru propellor shafts

This bulletin applies to 2013-2022 Subaru Crosstrek and 2018-2022 Forester vehicles.

This bulletin applies to 2013-2022 Subaru Crosstrek and 2018-2022 Forester vehicles. A design change has been made to the propeller shaft to address some customer concerns regarding a growling-type sound heard from under the vehicle when driving.

The center support bearing may become contaminated by heavy exposure to water, snow, mud and or dirt. The new propeller shafts feature water-blocking flanges to prevent contamination.
