After a lift malfunction, a school bus was kept from falling on its side by landing on the Shure benches.

A Georgia School District encountered a lift malfunction in the transportation service department during a weekend when employees were not present.

The customer reported that a short in the control box caused one side of the lift to raise which led to a bus being raised 3' before tipping over and landing on two Shure benches, a ShureShop Workbench and a Tear Down Bench.

These two Shure benches together caught the 26,000 lb. bus and kept it from completely falling to its side and causing additional damage.

“If a bus falls on to the concrete floor and the roof supports are bent or destroyed, the bus is considered totaled," Bruce Clark, director of transportation, told the manufacturer. "[Shure] benches saved us from buying a new bus, which is around $90,000."

"It was amazing to see [Shure] benches hold the 26,000lb. bus for almost 36 hours," Clark added.
