NEXIQ Technologies™, a Snap-on Inc. brand, is developing a new, high-tech wireless vehicle adapter, WVL2™, for heavy-duty truck service bay technicians that will be available during the fourth quarter of 2009. The WVL2™ will run on an embedded Linux operating system, which is also employed in the development of mobile phones, personal digital assistants, media players and other networking equipment. With a 400 Mhz processor, the WVL2™ will provide 802.11 wireless connectivity, with an approximate range of 300 feet. The WVL2™ will support the J2534 and RP1210B application program interfaces (APIs). In addition, the WVL2™ will support: J1939, J1708, CAN, ISO 15765, ISO 9141, and ISO 14230.
