April 3, 2015
These pullers are meant for effective removal of stubborn gears, bearings, pulleys and other press fit items.

The Posi Lock Model 104 general purpose puller is designed to remove gears, bearings, pulleys and other press fit items. The device's patented, steel Safety Cage holds the jaws open or closed, preventing them from slipping, flexing or snapping back at the user. The T-handle opens, closes, aligns and locks the jaws automatically. The slim, tapered jaws allow easier gripping and access to tight spots, according to the company. With a one-person operation, the tool has a 5-ton capacity, a 4" reach and a 1/2" to 5" spread. The puller weighs 4 lbs and comes fully assembled with no loose parts.

Selling points

The Model 104 is a general purpose puller that eliminates the need for many expensive specialty pullers. Posi Lock gear and bearing pullers feature a patented steel Safety Cage, and are well-known for ease of use, safety and superior craftsmanship. Posi Lock pullers are designed to be a one-person operation for increased efficiency and productivity. They are designed to be complete tools, fully assembled with no parts to lose.

Features and benefits

Posi Lock pullers have been designed for effective removal of stubborn gears, bearings, pulleys and other press fit items. The Safety Cage guides the jaws for fast setup, solid contact and superior safety. It holds the jaws securely in either open or closed positions, preventing the jaws from slipping/flexing and snapping back at the user. Slim tapered jaws allow for easier gripping and better access to tight spots, and there is leverage up front for vise-like power and no slippage. The tool's T-handle opens, closes, aligns and locks the jaws automatically, thus substantially increasing productivity, tool life and safety for the technician.

Application

Posi Lock pullers are meant for anything that has a motor and that has gears and bearings that eventually need maintenance. Pullers are used to remove gears, bearings, pulleys, and press fit items on cars, trucks, trains, buses, airplanes, construction equipment, farming equipment, motorcycles, boats/yachts/barges, print presses, mining operations, logging equipment, HVAC equipment and more.

Origin

In 1978, Dean Somerville, founder of Posi Lock, was struggling while doing maintenance on a tractor with a floppy jaw puller. He was pressed for time, as he had plans to go out hunting. It was at that moment that he decided to make a gear and bearing puller that was safer, easier and faster to use.
