Dec. 2, 2015
Used to replace an array of taps and dies, these tools are meant for one-handed use and can restore all types of fastener threads.

The Anglo American Tools Combination Thread Repair Kits allow users to replace an array of taps and dies. The tools are designed for one-handed use and are capable of restoring inch or metric and right- or left-handed fastener threads. There is no need for calibration or identification of thread type.  Kit No. NES1025 services external diameters of 5/32" to 1-1/2" and internal diameters of 5/16" to 1-1/4".

Application

This tool cleans and repairs stripped or damaged threads. It can save users from disassembling and reassembling a unit. The kit is especially beneficial to repair cross-threaded areas.

Selling points

Kit No. NES1025:

  • Replaces a huge array of taps and dies, covers both internal and external threads. Where it will not cut a new thread, it can repair a wide range of different size threads.
  • Ensures there is no need for measurement or pitch gauge to identify thread type. Blades float to the correct pitch and size within range.
  • Is a one-handed tool that repairs inches or metric sizes, right- or left-handed fastener threads.
  • Automatically follows good thread sections to repair the damaged thread sections.
  • Is designed to be timesaving, convenient and universal.

Features and benefits

The user can repair a wide range of thread types on site. It takes the guesswork out of measuring the thread size and pitch. NES tools are lightweight, compact, durable and useful in confined environments or workspaces.

• Contains two external thread restoring tools:

  • NES1A: 5/32” – 11/16” (or 4mm – 18mm)
  • NES2A: 11/16” – 1-1/2” (or 17mm – 38mm)

• Contains four internal thread restoring tools:

  • NES21: 5/16” – 7/16” (or 8mm – 11mm)
  • NES22: 1/2” – 5/8” (or 12mm – 16mm)
  • NES23: 11/16” – 13/16” (or 16mm – 20mm)
  • NES24: 7/8” – 1-1/4” (or 22mm – 32mm)

• Also contains replacement cutters

Origin

Often damaged threads appear at the end of the thread. Since taps and dies need at least a few clean threads to begin the repair, the job cannot be completed with a tap and die set. NES Tools are able to start below the damaged area and work outwards to complete the repair. Thread chasers, as well as taps and dies, always required the exact size. It is ideal to have a universal tool to fit a wide range of sizes.

Manufacturing specs

  • Made in Israel.
  • Blades are made of high speed steel – 58 Rockwell for external blades and 62 Rockwell for internal cutters.
  • External threads (diameter): 5/32” to 1-1/2”.
  • Internal threads (diameter): 5/16” to 1-1/4”.
  • Package weight: 5 lbs.

Storage and display

The set comes in an orange protective case, and it includes both two external tools (NES1A and NES2) and four internal repair tools (NES21 through NES24). The company recommends displaying and demonstrating tools on its NES Tri-Demo Stand (sold separately – No. NESTRIDEMO).
