Sales Tip: Selling snacks

Six tips to sell more beef jerky.

Oftentimes, a trip out to the tool truck and away from the shop is seen as a break for technicians. One way distributors can make that break seem a little more worthwhile is by selling easy-to-grab snacks, such as beef jerky. Here are some tips for selling this salty snack:

  1. Tasting is believing. Open a pack to share with the shop employees when you first introduce the jerky or beef sticks. They’ll be hooked.
  2. Let everyone know these products are all American made, all American beef and no fillers. Take pride in offering only the best quality meat snacks to your customers.
  3. Offer “two for” pricing, especially on the individually wrapped sticks. A quick way to double a sale.
  4. The 1.25 oz individually wrapped sticks are a great “Thank You” gift to hand out for a nice order at a very low cost.
  5. Offer a “flavor of the month” special to get customers to try a wider variety of items.
  6. These items are a natural draw once the customers have tasted them, so display them in the back of the truck to bring buyers in past all the tool displays.
