Medco/California Tool to become largest professional tool, equipment and collision supply distributor on west coast.

Los Angeles-based California Tool and MEDCO of Philadelphia announced that they have completed a deal to merge the operations of California Tool into MEDCO, creating the largest professional tool/equipment and PBE/collision supply distribution warehouse on the West Coast.  The new entity, to be known as MEDCO/California Tool will offer over 400 manufacturer lines and bring a new level of service, marketing expertise, business-building programs and resources to customers west of the Rockies.

"We have made significant inroads in California since we opened our first warehouse there in 2002," said Andrew Keim, President of MEDCO.  He added, "The addition of California Tool, and the reputation it has built over the past 85 years of Miller family ownership, will strengthen this reputation even more while giving us a deeper and more robust footprint with the major customers in this region.  We are excited about bringing new opportunities to this broader customer base."

As part of the deal, the Los Angeles warehouse of California Tool will close and all inventory will be transferred to the state-of-the-art MEDCO warehouse in Fresno, California.  Southern California customers will still be able to pick-up at the Los Angeles location but no products will be housed at that location.

"I have known and respected Richard Bell, Andrew Keim and the MEDCO organization for decades," commented Steve Miller, outgoing President of California Tool.  He added, "As I planned for the future for our customers and employees, MEDCO was the one company whose vision and capabilities I could count on to ensure a strong and productive path."

The MEDCO warehouse in Fresno, occupying over 40,000 square feet of space, is located so that it has the ability to ship via next day Ground to seven states west of the Rockies.  For more information, please contact MEDCO at 215-492-6700.
