Entries to be judged for packaging innovation.

PMMI, the Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, has volunteered to judge entries in the 2013 Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) Packaging Showcase. The winning entries will be announced during AAPEX, slated for Tuesday, Nov. 5 through Thursday, Nov. 7, at the Sands Expo Center, Las Vegas, Nev., according to the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association.

Tom Egan, vice president, industry services, and Sean Riley, editor, Packaging Machinery Technology (PMT) magazine, will judge the entries that reflect the latest innovative, protective or “green” packaging and the highest standards in packaging design. The judges will identify a winner in each of six categories: economics, environmental impact, innovation, marketing, performance, and protection.

Egan has more than 25 years in packaging, including more than 10 years on the PMMI staff. He works with industry groups, plus consumer and industrial goods companies, to address supply chain needs and innovations that will impact the marketplace.

Riley has a background that includes writing and editing for multiple industry publications. As PMT editor, he brings a keen sense of industry trends, as well as strong experience judging other widely recognized packaging awards.

All Packaging Showcase entries will be prominently displayed at AAPEX in the Hall D extension Level 2. In addition to an award, exhibitors with the winning entries will receive publicity in the official AAPEX publications to help them grow their business at AAPEX.

PMMI is a trade association made up of more than 650 member companies that manufacture packaging, processing and packaging-related converting machinery, commercially-available packaging machinery components, containers and materials in the United States, Canada and Mexico. PMMI’s vision is to be the leading global resource for packaging and processing, and its mission is to improve and promote members’ abilities to succeed in a global marketplace.
