Schumacher Electric announces promotions to management team

Jan. 14, 2014
The company promoted John Waldron to vice chairman of the board and promoted Cory Watkins as Waldron’s replacement as president.

The new year began with two major changes at Schumacher Electric Corporation, when Board Chairman Don Schumacher elevated President John Waldron to the new position of vice chairman of the board and promoted Cory Watkins as Waldron’s replacement as president.

Schumacher Electric, which employs about 2,000 people worldwide and is the world’s foremost manufacturer of battery chargers, is coming off its sixth consecutive record year for sales. Accordingly, Schumacher felt the timing was right for enhancing his management team.

“John has been a great asset at Schumacher Electric for the past 17 years and his position as vice chairman of the board is certain to help our company continue to grow,” said Schumacher, who has led SEC since 1974. The company was founded in 1947 by his father, Al Schumacher, and Otto Woodward in Chicago.

“This also gives Cory an opportunity that he has earned after leading our sales force for several years and as our executive vice president helping John lead our company,” stated Schumacher. Watkins, 45, has been with SEC since 2004 when he began as the company’s first in-house legal counsel.

Schumacher also stated that “These moves strengthen Schumacher Electric as we continue to move forward and keep our company growing.”
