This bulletin applies to all Mercedes-Benz vehicles equipped with electronic steering.

A rattling/humming noise may be evident when steering. The cause may be damage to the ball screw drive (KGT) of the electric steering, with damage caused by external force (front wheels hitting a curb, hitting potholes, etc.), or corrosion/water ingress through a damaged boot (cracks, animal bites, high pressure cleaner, etc.).

If ball screw damage is found, replace the electric steering assembly.
