Some 2018-2020 Toyota Land Cruiser vehicles equipped with Active Height Control may exhibit a squeak noise from the rear over uneven surfaces when the suspension is set to the low height position. This is caused by contact between the passenger side rear lower control arm and lower control arm support bracket.

Set the suspension height to neutral or high and visibly inspect the passenger rear lower control arm and lower arm support bracket. If contact/witness marks are found, proceed with the repair.

Disconnect the lower control arm from the bracket. Using masking tape, mark the support bracket to use as a guide for removing excess material.

Using a cutoff wheel, remove the excess material from the bracket. Do not remove more than 5mm. Removing more than 5mm may reduce the strength of the bracket. Remove the masking tape. Using a bonded abrasive disc, remove burrs and smooth the cut surface. Buff the contact/witness mark on the control arm. Using a two-part epoxy primer, coat the exposed metal on the bracket and control arm. Cover the primer with a black topcoat. Reconnect the control arm to the bracket. Set the suspension height to the low setting and test drive to confirm that the noise has been eliminated.
