Some 2009-2013 Lincoln MKX vehicles equipped with 22-inch wheels may exhibit the tire pressure monitor system (TPMS) warning lamp illuminated identifying low tire pressure in one or more wheels.
For the tire/wheel that has low pressure, determine if air is leaking from the tire bead seat area on the wheel(s) by removing the tire/wheel assembly from the vehicle and either spraying with soapy water or using a dunk tank. If a bead seat area is found to be leaking, remove all four wheel/tire assemblies from the vehicle and disassemble the tires from the wheels.
On each tire, remove the vents and whiskers from both the inboard and outboard bead seat areas using a course grit emery cloth. Perform 10 circumferential rub cycles (back and forth) per side until the surface is smooth.
Reinstall the tires to the wheels. Before inflating, depress the sidewalls and apply bead sealant to the entire inboard and outboard wheel bead seat areas. Inflate, seat the beads and let stand for 15 minutes. Balance the wheel/tire assemblies and install to the vehicle.
